Pearls & Roses

Solution selection and requirements

I help you define what the solution must do, write the requirements and compare offers, tools and models. Part of the choice is between open-weight and closed models. I make the recommendation against your process, data and accountability: what to buy, what to build and what not to do now.

Selection comes before rollout. If the tool or the model is chosen badly, the pilot stays at the level of a presentation and a licence cost. Open-weight and closed models differ in data protection, cost, control and quality; the right choice depends on the organisation.

What the selection includes

  • Requirements spec
  • Evaluation criteria
  • A comparison of open-weight and closed models: privacy, cost, control, quality
  • Offer comparison
  • A recommendation with risks

Open-weight and closed models

Open-weight models

More control, a clearer data location and the option to run the model on your own server. Maintenance and quality still have to be weighed separately.

Closed models

A ready-made service, often quicker to start. Cost, where data is processed and dependence on the vendor have to be clear before you decide.

Who it is for

Organisations that have to choose among several offers, or that do not want to buy the first tool they see. It also works well before you commission Copilot, an agent or another solution.

How I work

I start from your actual workflow. I write the criteria down, compare the options and give a recommendation in which each option has a clear answer: yes, no or later.
